Forskningdet skal drivast vitenskapleg forskning og forsøksverksemd. Formidlingstiftinga skal formidla kunnskap om kulturlandskap til publikum. Undervisningstiftinga skal samarbeida med utdanningsinstitusjonen om undervisningstilbod innan kulturlandskap, kystkultur, friluftsliv og miljølære. Næringsverksemdstiftinga skal samarbeide med friluftsliv- og reiselivsorganisasjonar for å fremja reiselivet i regionen. Like eins skal stiftinga samarbeida med næringslivet for å fremja lokal og regional næringsutvikling basert på verdiar som ligg i det historiske kulturlandskapet. Finansieringstiftinga skal arbeida for fullfinansiering av lyngheisenteret. Eigedomstiftinga skal stå som eigar av og stå føre drifta av informasjonsbygningen og av andre bygningar og anlegg som er finansiert av stiftinga. Driftastyret har høve til å inngå avtale om å overlate drifta av stiftinga til andre såframt endringar i den offentlege museumsstrukturen tilseier dette.
